Duct Sealing

Duct sealing closes the gaps, loose joints and failed tape in your duct system so the cooled air you paid for reaches the rooms instead of the attic. We do this work for homeowners across the region, usually after someone notices weak airflow at the far vents, a room that never catches up, or dust that keeps coming back. If that sounds like your house, call us and we will inspect the duct runs before recommending anything. Bring us the room that bothers you most and we will start there.

What duct sealing actually involves

We start at the air handler and work outward, tracing the trunk and each branch to find where air escapes. Separated joints, crushed flex, torn insulation and old cloth tape that gave up years ago are the usual culprits in Florida attics. Sealing means mastic and mesh at the joints, proper mechanical connections where a run has pulled loose, and re-insulating anything left bare. It is hands-on work in a hot attic, done run by run, not a spray-and-go visit.

What we check and what we install

We check static pressure and airflow at the registers, look at return sizing, and inspect the plenum and boot connections where leaks hide behind ceilings. Salt air and humidity age sheet metal and adhesives faster here, so we also look for rust at seams and moisture staining on insulation. Then we apply mastic, seal boots to drywall, replace failed flex sections, and add insulation sleeves where the vapour barrier has split. Afterward we re-measure airflow so you can feel the difference at the vent.

How we decide sealing is the right call

Sealing is right when the ducts are structurally sound but leaking. If a run is collapsed, undersized, or the insulation is soaked and mouldy, patching it wastes your money and we will say so. We weigh the age of the system, how many rooms are underperforming, and whether the air handler is fighting high static pressure. Sometimes the honest answer is a partial replacement of the worst runs plus sealing everywhere else. We show you what we found before any work starts.

Duct Sealing — quick answers

Will duct sealing help with humidity indoors?

Often yes. Leaky return ducts pull hot, damp attic air into the system, which the AC then has to dry out. Sealing those leaks lets the equipment handle room air instead of attic air.

How long does duct sealing take?

Most homes take part of a day to a full day, depending on attic access, how many branches there are, and how much insulation has to be opened and put back properly.

Do I need duct sealing or duct replacement?

If the ducts hold their shape and the leaks are at joints and boots, sealing works well. Crushed, torn or moisture-damaged runs need replacing. We inspect first and tell you which you have.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping, water stains on the ceiling. That detail helps us bring the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, refrigerant performance, airflow and the condensate line. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping the problem stays away.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and how long the part is likely to last. Nothing gets replaced until you say go, and we test the system before leaving.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for the salt airCoastal Florida is hard on outdoor equipment. Coils corrode, contactors pit, fan motors seize early. We look for that damage during every air conditioning repair so a small failure does not take the whole system down.
  • Condensate lines we actually clearBy late summer, drain lines clog with algae and shut systems off on the float switch. We clear the line, check the pan and the safety switch, and show you what caused the backup.
  • Heating tooCold snaps still arrive. We do heating repair and heater repair on heat pumps, strip heat and furnace repair where homes have one, so the system works in January as well as August.
  • Plain talk about older systemsIf a repair makes sense, we repair it. If a unit is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say that too and lay out the options. You decide, not us.
  • All major brands, gas & electricEvery major HVAC brand, gas and electric, handled by an independent crew.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
