Top-rated independent heating and cooling across South Florida

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers

We install and service whole-home dehumidifiers, the ducted units that pull moisture out of the air across your whole house instead of one room at a time. Homeowners in Florida call us when the thermostat reads 74 but the house still feels clammy, when windows sweat, or when musty smells keep coming back after the AC runs. If that sounds like your house, call us and we will measure indoor humidity, look at your existing HVAC setup, and tell you what the air actually needs.

What the job involves

A whole-home dehumidifier ties into your ductwork and runs on its own humidity control, so it can dry the air even when the AC is not calling for cooling. That matters across the region, where mild, rainy stretches leave moisture behind without ever making the house hot. Installation means choosing a location with drainage and service access, cutting and sealing supply and return connections, running a condensate line, and wiring a humidistat. We commission the unit and confirm it holds the setpoint before we leave.

What we check and install

We start with readings, not guesses. We log indoor relative humidity in a few rooms, check the AC run time, inspect duct sealing and return air, and look at the condensate path, because a clogged drain will undo everything else. Then we size the dehumidifier to the house rather than the square footage on paper. Installed work includes the unit, ducted connections, a dedicated drain with a trap, a humidistat you can actually read, and a filter you can reach without moving anything.

How we decide it is the right call

Sometimes you do not need a dehumidifier. An oversized AC that short cycles, leaky returns pulling attic air, or a blower running too fast can all make a house feel damp, and fixing those costs less than adding equipment. We check those first. If humidity stays above the mid 50s with the system running correctly, or if you have a tight, well insulated home that cools quickly and never dries out, a dedicated dehumidifier is usually the honest answer.

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home dehumidifier replace my air conditioner?

No. Your AC still handles cooling. The dehumidifier handles moisture, especially during mild or rainy weather when the AC barely runs and humidity climbs anyway. They work together on the same ductwork.

Where does the water go?

Into a dedicated condensate drain we install with a trap, usually routed the same way your AC drain runs. We keep the line accessible so it can be flushed, since drains here clog with algae by late summer.

What humidity level should I set it to?

Most Florida homes feel comfortable between 45 and 55 percent relative humidity. We set the humidistat during commissioning and adjust after you live with it for a week, since comfort varies house to house.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping, water stains on the ceiling. That detail helps us bring the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, refrigerant performance, airflow and the condensate line. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping the problem stays away.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and how long the part is likely to last. Nothing gets replaced until you say go, and we test the system before leaving.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for the salt airCoastal Florida is hard on outdoor equipment. Coils corrode, contactors pit, fan motors seize early. We look for that damage during every air conditioning repair so a small failure does not take the whole system down.
  • Condensate lines we actually clearBy late summer, drain lines clog with algae and shut systems off on the float switch. We clear the line, check the pan and the safety switch, and show you what caused the backup.
  • Heating tooCold snaps still arrive. We do heating repair and heater repair on heat pumps, strip heat and furnace repair where homes have one, so the system works in January as well as August.
  • Plain talk about older systemsIf a repair makes sense, we repair it. If a unit is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say that too and lay out the options. You decide, not us.
  • All major brands, gas & electricEvery major HVAC brand, gas and electric, handled by an independent crew.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
